[White Paper] Managing User Experience and the Organization

Description:
Customer demand for the superior web experiences that Web 2.0 can provide is driving web companies to design complex new end-user facing web applications. But building these applications often requires moving functionality from the well-understood server environment to inside the user’s browser itself, leaving some to believe that they have lost control. But companies cannot continue to develop applications behind the firewall, test with conventional tools, and launch into production with minimal regard for the actual customer experience on the desktop. The world has changed and the applications that IT develops and delivers are not the same as what end-users see on their desktops. This white paper details a new platform solution that provides the industry’s first end-to-end solution for Web application experience management throughout the application lifecycle.

[White Paper] The Reality of Load Testing

Description:
Managing risk and uncertainty is what load testing is all about. Changes made to production website systems are responsible for more than 80 percent of downtime and performance problems. Yet change is constant when you operate a web site. In too many cases – because of the cost, complexity and rigidity of many load testing tools – developers make a major change, then simply watch and wait without directly measuring the effect of load in a production setting. The first customers who come to the website are the guinea pigs. If everything works, great, the e-commerce team can go on with their lives. If response time suffers and transactions hang, well, those customers are sacrificed for the greater good. Discover the new approach offered by the Gomez RealityLoad XF offers the power, flexibility and value to finally remove this wait-and-see approach.

[White Paper] Core Activities of Performance Testing – IT Briefing

Many performance testing authors, thought leaders, and researchers have spent lots of time trying to figure out what makes a performance testing project successful. They always come up with a whole lot of agreement that, for a performance testing project to be successful, it must have specific goals in mind, and they must work intentionally and deliberately towards achieving those goals.

The nine core principles are Context, Criteria, Design, Instrument or Instrumentation, Script, Execute, Analyze, Report and Iterate. The vast majority of successful performance testers agree that these nine items are, at a minimum, worthy of consideration for every performance testing project. Not at least considering any of these items is very likely to lead to challenges and sometimes outright project failure. That is not to say that every one of these must be executed in the same degree of detail, in the same order, or in the same way on each project.
